With the Super Bowl only a few days away, you're probably making last-minute preparations to add seating, spruce up your serving table and making sure your multimedia is up to the task at hand. However, if you're holding the bash in your living room that features hardwood floors, one of your guests may have a big spill and could ruin the integrity of your flooring.

Handcrafted Hardwood FloorsAfter purchasing wood flooring like the dynamic designs from Anderson Floors' Eagle Lodge collection, you're going to want to show it off to all of your friends during your gridiron bash. Unfortunately, with the amount of beverages and foods that will be served, there's a high likelihood that one of your guests will have a mishap. Thankfully, you can have a plan of action ready and waiting.

1. Use an area rug under your coffee table. One of the best ways to reduce the chance of potentially damaging spills is by bringing in a small area rug to place underneath your coffee or serving table. This will allow the occasional drip of salsa or condensation from a glass will land on the carpet instead of your flooring.

2. Use a wood floor cleaner. Before your guests come over to your home, use a professionally-certified wood floor cleaner to improve the shine and luster of your flooring. Not only will this help your living space look brilliant for the big game, but it will offer another layer of protection that will prevent water and other hazardous liquids from causing significant damage.

3. Keep a wet/dry vac handy. If you have a wet/dry vacuum, it would be wise to keep it near your main seating area during the Super Bowl. As soon as a spill occurs, you will be able to spring into action and take care of it before it becomes a major issue. After removing much of the spill, you can clean the area with a rag and dry with paper towels to spare your flooring from a potential imperfection.

Your home is about to be filled with raucous football fans, so protecting your investment from the occasional spill should be one of your top priorities. Thankfully, with a few advanced preparations your friends can enjoy the beauty of your new floors and you won't have to worry about a potentially clumsy guest.
