Anderson Ups GREENGUARD® Certification With Children and Schools Indoor Air Quality Recognition

Clinton, SC. - All Anderson hardwood flooring products are now GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM Certified, and are now listed on the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) website. As an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving public health and quality of life through programs that reduce chemical exposure and improve indoor air quality, GEI created the GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification Program to recognize companies whose products meet or exceed stringent requirements for low chemical emissions.

To achieve GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification, Anderson hardwoods were screened for more than 10,000 different volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and were verified to meet the required California chronic reference exposure levels including 13.5 parts per billion formaldehyde.  To maintain certification, Anderson’s hardwoods will be re-tested according to these strict standards on an ongoing basis.  This means that GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified products don’t just meet the low-emitting flooring requirements of the LEED® Green Building Rating System, but greatly exceed them.

“Anderson’s achievement of GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification demonstrates a solid commitment to occupant health and sustainability.  Though indoor air quality affects everyone, children are especially at risk for negative effects of chemical exposure. Selecting GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified products is an easy way to ensure that children and other sensitive individuals are surrounded by products that have been scientifically proven to be healthier for indoor air,” said Henning Bloech, executive director of GEI.

"We were pleased to be the first hardwood flooring manufacturer to earn GEI's GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification on all our brands and now to be recognized for meeting their prestigious GREENGUARD Children & Schools standard makes us even prouder,” said Don Finkell, Anderson’s President. “This achievement not only reinforces Anderson's commitment to optimum indoor air quality, but also insures these hardwood styles are eligible for low emission credit under the respective commercial and residential LEED certification programs."
